As the Xirkaali Empire’s rapid advances across Pannithor threaten to conquer all who stand before them, the nations of the west remain divided. Of all of these nations, Basilea stands as both the strongest and the most fractured. The Shining Ones themselves visit mere mortals with messages from Mount Kolosu, conflicting directions which tear a new wound between two faith groups in the mighty Hegemony. And above all of this is the constant threat from the Abyss — the deadly peril of demons at the northern borders, closer and more real than the rumors of Xirkaali aggression.
All the meanwhile, Orion — formerly Lord of Suda — has now been promoted to Lord Paladin of the First Cohort of the Order of the Sacred Ark after his valiant efforts at Dannean Hill. Tasked with aiding the city of Samarik after yet another grueling battle, Orion must lead his paladins to defend the Hegemony's borders — along the way, encountering some unexpected allies and familiar faces.
With a new, secret threat ready to be tested from the depths of the Abyss itself, and salamanders desperately seeking aid from their valiant defence against the Xirkaali, war is now finally spilling inside the borders of the great Hegemony of Basilea.
