The Polish Army in 1775

Gabriel Raspe published a book in the 1780’s on the Polish-Lithuanian Army of 1775 illustrating the various units and detailing their organization.  The army illustrated in this book existed between the First Partition of Poland and the one that fought against the Russians prior to the Second Partition. It provides a valuable link between the pre-partition Commonwealth Army and the troops that fought in defense of the Constitution of 1791.
